from manhattan to brooklyn

i've always wanted to cross the brooklyn bridge on foot but never had the chance to. today was a great 70deg spring day so i finally did! i had a busy hectic work week sitting for hours on my work chair so the walk was great for my back therapy and was fun at the same time. we ended up having a nice brunch and walk around dumbo, brooklyn and took the subway back to manhattan. :-)

newborn session: jacqueline at 3 weeks

hi everyone... i've been just so busy and there's just been a lot going on since my accident about two months ago that i have been running late on posting photos for my cousin. im glad i finally had time to squeeze to post these photos from their photo session held weeks ago. the session was held for their sweet baby girl named jacqueline and she was close to a month old then.

it was nice visiting my cousin, her husband and baby J during a nice 50deg weather by the jersey shore during the winter season. it has been quite awhile since i've seen them specially that we usually drop by their place during the summer. they live just right in front of the beach! it was great to see the little one specially that she reminded me of my cousin when she was a baby. i remember that i used to take care of her when she was little and now i can't believe she's a mom! baby jacqueline will probably grow up to be as sweet as her mom. :-)

like most newborn babies, baby Jacqueline had her uncomfortable moments during the session. we just had to make the most of the time when she had her comfortable or sleepy moments. she was just so adorable when i finally had the chance to take some shots.

to justine & jim, congratulations again on your new baby girl and the new little addition to our big family! :-) i can't wait to see her again when we come by and visit during the summer season. i also can't wait to go to the beach! enough of this winter season please! i hope you like the photos. you might not notice but i also wanted to do something different for this post...the images are all in black & white except for the 1st one. :-) you can see some of the colored images on my website.

newborn session: charlie

last weekend, i had my first photo shoot for the new year. :-) it was a newborn photo session for baby charlie who was more than 2 weeks old. after i had been struggling for weeks from an accident, i was excited to get back to my photography work and meet the little baby boy. i was glad that i was feeling a little better by the time they were ready to do the session.

the photo session was held at their beautiful home in new jersey. the family had received a baby shower gift card for this session from one of the families whom i also had a session with. i would like to thank kris & her family again for giving the gift card to this beautiful family.

like most newborns, it took time for baby charlie to get into the mood and be comfortable in the buff. thanks to the patience of his mom & dad, we were still able to get wonderful photos.

to the family ...thanks again for a great session. it was great to have finally met all of you. thank you again for welcoming me into your home and for all the patience. i hope you like this sneak peek from your session. i also hope that you will like the rest of the photos that are coming soon. hope all's well.

personal update & business schedule

hi there :-)

i hope everybody has had a good start for the year so far.
i had mentioned in one of my previous blogs that i got into an accident which unfortunately happened on the morning of the 24th of dec (christmas eve). i slipped & fell hard on the front steps of my apt. building due to thin ice or what they call black ice. i hit my head & lower back and had to be taken to the emergency by ambulance. i have been experiencing excruciating pain due to my lower back injury specially during the 1st week which makes it difficult for me to walk, move or sit every time. my sister & friends had to take care of me for 2 weeks during the holidays. after going back & forth for doctor's visits, my MRI scan showed that i have 2 bulging discs. luckily, no sugery is required but the doctor has prescribed for me a month of physical therapy. oh well... it could have been worse.

so here i am now, just giving you an update of my condition specially for those who have been inquiring about my photography services. there are still days that i feel the pain & there are days that are better. that's just how it's going to be 'til i heal, as my physical therapist said. i started therapy and had already gone back to work in the city last week. i walk with a cane in the city to protect me from the NY rush & pedestrians and to give a little support since i still have been limping on my left leg due to the pain. it's amazing how people can be so much nicer to you when you have a cane & see that you're handicapped. it's a struggle every day but i just take it one day at a time.

anyways, just for your information, i am not accepting any photography jobs for the rest of january due to my current condition except for those who have received gift cards for newborn photo sessions and are due this month. gift cards are still available for purchase that can be great gifts for baby showers & engagements. i will hopefully start accepting jobs for winter photo sessions by next month depending on my condition by then. i will post an update again next month so please just visit my blog for more information. i already have a couple of inquiries for the spring season so please feel free to contact me via email at info@melaniedphotography.com or call me at 917.815.5652 (please just leave a message on my voicemail), if you want to reserve a slot and schedule a photo session. please add me to your email address book so that my reply doesn't go to your spam/trash folder. if you have a facebook account, you can also contact me though my facebook photography page link...click HERE.
